Brain managing director, Gillian Summers, said Brain went through a rigorous pre-qualification process to secure the conveyor pulley supplier contract.
Gillian said Brain has already manufactured pulleys for Reliable for use in quarries, coal handling facilities, an underground coal mine and a hard rock mine.
She said the contract is an important win for Brain which recently launched its new conveyor pulley manufacturing and refurbishment service.
Reliable director and operations manager, Shane Burley, said the company chose Brain for its product quality, reliability, customer service and supply chain management.
Shane said Brain uses high quality components, including bearings, locking elements, shells and end discs, in its manufacturing process. He said Reliable has been using Brain as a supplier of pulley lagging for 18 months so it knew of Brain’s commitment to quality and service.
“Brain has very rigorous QA processes and has invested in the specialised tooling required for high quality pulley manufacturing, including welding, machining and stress relieving of the materials,” Shane said.
“Quality is extremely important to Reliable and our customers. Pulley failure can be catastrophic and leads to significant downtime, which industry cannot afford.”
He said Brain is responsive to customer needs.
“Brain recently supplied a pulley for a customer with a very fast turnaround time.”
Shane said it will also be using Brain conveyor pulleys for its customers in the agricultural, industrial, ports, power stations, quarrying & cement, smelting, recycling, road & construction and food sectors.
